Rudderbreak

A lazy seaside town at the southeastern tip of the Redstone Peninsula, Rudderbreak is named for the many small islands and submerged rock formations that litter the sea nearby. Most shipping traffic through Baerstun Bay leaves the city wide abeam, but merchants concerned with making good time will risk the damage to their ships and cut the corner. It is one of the few places for a larger ship to dock, and if a ship is damaged, this is where she’ll make port. The peninsular farmers export rice flour and wine, and Rudderbreak has a few looms where sailcloth and rope are made from the hemp and cotton grown throughout the peninsula. Other economic activity includes beachcombing on the many dozens of small islands, pearl diving, expeditionary mining, and probably a bit of smuggling.

The population is a mix of dark-skinned half-elves who trace their ancestry to the Caliphate, tanned humans from all over Galena, and a smattering of elves, halflings, and dragonborn from just about everywhere. The mood in town is very relaxed and laid back; most everyone is used to scraping by until a bit of luck comes their way, and any sailor who has been stranded here knows the allure of living on “Peninsula time”.
